IN THE NEWS
"Sally Weston draws from New England’s classic architectural tradition to design and renovate elegant houses for the South Shore’s most glamorous homeowners. With Weston, no detail is overlooked."
"Mally Skok does not believe in redecorating her home, which might seem counterintuitive for an internationally published, award-winning designer of interiors, furniture, and fabric. Case in point: her three children, now in their twenties and thirties, still have their own rooms in the seaside Falmouth, Massachusetts, home Skok designed with architect Sally Weston twenty-plus years ago. “If you’re thoughtful the first time around, then all you really need to do is add layers to your home,” muses Skok."
"Built in 1880, the lovely Greek Revival-style Abner Thorn House seamlessly extends into a spacious, light-filled addition designed by Sally Weston. Although distinguished by a prominent location on Main Street, the home retains a distinct sense of privacy, with a backyard oasis that is home to a heated, in-ground saltwater pool and a charming cabana outfitted with a kitchenette, a half-bath, a dressing room and an outdoor shower."
"'When I was growing up, I remember neighborhood kids who had living rooms that no one entered,” recalls architect Sally Weston of Sally Weston Associates. “But when I design a new home today, I want the occupants to use every single room, often for multiple purposes.'"
"The Dickinsons turned to architect Sally Weston of Sally Weston Associates in Hingham, Massachusetts, who enhanced the basic structure, adding a front portico and a carriage house-garage connected to the main house by a colonnade. “Inside, we added windows to play up the view, and many new details,” says Weston."
"Renovations to transform the site into the Hingham Heritage Museum will allow more permanent exhibitions and provide a more attractive rental venue. Groundbreaking on the renovations was held last week. “It’s the grand dame of the downtown,” said Hingham resident Sally Weston, who is donating her architectural and design firm’s time and expertise to the endeavor. “You really want it to shine and become a centerpiece.”
"Weston and Thompson had renovated the onetime ranch house, keeping the footprint and adding a second floor. They married a traditional New England exterior with a more open interior plan. Instead of a classic oversized entry with a sweeping staircase, they designed a smaller entry transition space with the stair to the new second floor pushed to the side. Parallel hallways on the front and back sides of the house string the rooms together, making for a natural circulation pattern. “It’s all about the flow with this house,” says Weston."
"Providing architectural services for the beautiful addition to the historic 1818 Old Derby building, Sally Weston & Associates has given the Historical Society and the Town of Hingham a welcoming venue for hosting the many educational programs and community events that will once again fill Old Derby with life."
